Grace Motivated Care

30 10 2007

Joshua and I had the fabulous opportunity to attend a retreat through our church this past weekend.  The Care Group Leaders at our church all stayed at the Marriot Suites and had the chance to receive great teaching on providing effective care to those in our groups.  The following video is an example of a “not-so-good” way of providing grace-motivated care to someone.  Enjoy!

7:50AM- I put on running clothes and 10 minutes later take Belle out for a 53minute jog/walk. . . it was around 60 degrees. . .ahhh, perfect!

9:15AM- Enjoy my breakfast and Bible reading

10:00AM- Clean up around the house. . . dusted, cleaned the bathroom, put dishes away, and vacuumed!  Yeah for cleanliness!

11:00AM- Josh comes home, I jump in shower

*****This is where it gets exciting*****

1:15PM- Leave apartment, head to church, and meet up with 8 other people wanting to drive 3hours to visit Reddish Knob, VA (the highest point in Northern Virginia).

2:15PM- Leave the church with 2 carpoolers in our vehicle and Belle in the back

5:30PM- Arrive to spectacular views!!!  (as always all of the pictures can be seen at the flickr link to the right)

***Special note: All pictures taken by Chuan, a Chinese student studying here in Fairfax at George Mason University.  She was kind enough to send her pictures to us, as we realized upon arriving that our camera battery was dead.***

Fall Day at Grandpa’s Farm

23 10 2007

Columbus Day weekend proved to be a fantastically warm weekend here in Northern Virginia.  Friends of ours, Marcus and Melanie Leung-Shea marcusmel

invited the career-aged singles out for a day of fun and relaxation at Melanie’s grandfather’s estate in Fredericksburg, VA.  Outside the hussle and bussle of Metro DC, Fredericksburg is a nice hour long drive away and the farm was marvelously delightful.  We spent the day eating a delicious spread of homemade food, playing games, walking along the nature trail that loops around the pond, participating in a water balloon toss and apple bobbing competition, and having a generally great time.  We finished out the evening at CiCi’s Restaurant- an all you can eat pizza, pasta, and salad place for $4.95.  All of the photos can be found on flickr to the right, but here’s a sampling!  Enjoy. . .

I know, I know. . . its been toooo long!

22 10 2007

So I realize its been way too long since my last update, so I have a bunch in the cue for Taylor Family updates these next few days.  Life has been going well.  Josh finished up his first mini-mester of online school with Liberty University and is diving headfirst into his second tonight.

I bought printer paper at CVS today on my way home, and just couldn’t resist- these!

candy

i make myself wait as long as possible to buy them because I could pretty much finish off a bag in a single sitting, and Josh won’t even eat them. . . argh!  Bon appetite!

Ransomed

5 10 2007

Here is a song we sang last Sunday at church.  It’s been rolling around in my head all week.  May it remind you of the glorious gospel today!

By Jordan Kauflin

When my sin begins to tell me, all is lost, my guilt displayed.  I will look and see my Savior, Jesus Christ who bore my blame.

And neither death, nor life, nor anything, could ever keep me from His love!

Hallelujah, grace shall reign eternally.  None shall take me, from the ranks of God’s redeemed.  His blood has forever ransomed me!

What from Christ my soul shall sever?  Bound by everlasting bands.  Once in Him, in Him forever, His eternal covenant stands.

And neither death, nor life, nor anything, could ever keep me from His love!

Hallelujah, grace shall reign eternally.  None shall take me, from the ranks of God’s redeemed.  His blood has forever ransomed me!

On such love, my soul will ponder.  Love so great, so rich, so free!  I say while I’m lost in wonder, Why oh Lord such love to me?

And neither death, nor life, nor anything, could ever keep me from His love!

Hallelujah, grace shall reign eternally.  None shall take me, from the ranks of God’s redeemed.  His blood has forever ransomed me!
